Who is Jesus?

Who is Jesus?

The Bible contains lots of stories about Jesus – the things He said, the things He did and what others thought about who He was.  In this series we are going to be exploring some of those stories and events, to help us to understand who the Bible says that Jesus is.

We’ll also be using these stories to help you to consider your own character (the things that you do and say).  One of the questions that Jesus asked His followers was: ‘Who do you say I am?’.  You’ll also have chance to consider what you would say, if someone asked you that question.

These resources  have been created specifically and appropriately for use by schools as part of a lesson or assembly, by churches as a group or children’s activity, or at at home in a family context.

Theme: Actions and Words reveal Character

In this video, we start by thinking about a story that Jesus told.  He told this to help those that were listening to consider their own actions – the things that they did, and the things that they said.  It is our actions that tell people what we are like.  The video (below left) includes a ‘Who Am I?’ quiz (are your guesses better than Alan’s?) and we’ve also got the Sonrise News Report and an activity sheet to help you reflect further on character.  If you want to hear more about the story Jesus told, why not watch the video (below right) by LifeKids.

In this video, we start by thinking about a story from The Bible about Jesus and His encounter with a large crowd, one small boy, and a packed lunch!  The video (below left) includes a World Records quiz (all about food – and you wouldn’t believe some of the answers!) and we’ve also got the Sonrise News Report and an activity sheet to help you reflect further on one example where Jesus showed people that He could provide for them.  If you want to hear more about the story Jesus told, why not watch the video (below right) by Crossroads Kids Club.

Theme: Guardian

In this video, we reflect on a parable that Jesus told in The Bible about a shepherd who was guardian for 100 sheep.  Those that were listening would have been in no doubt that Jesus was challenging them over who they thought were important.  The video (below left) includes a quiz (how much do you know about animals?!) and we’ve also got the updated report from Sonrise News and an activity sheet to help you reflect further on the theme.  If you want to hear more about the story Jesus told, why not watch the video (below right) which is a collaboration of work by Derek Walmsley, The Postman and Max7.org.

In addition, we have special guest appearances in the video from Ringo and Freddie, who we would like to thank for their hard work and stage presence; alongside The Bucks Goat Centre who allowed us to film on location (in accordance with all guidelines at the time of recording).

Theme: Hope

In this video, we reflect on a parable the events in The Bible where a group of friends decided that Jesus was their only hope – this led them to digging a hole in the roof of a house!  The religious leaders that were there and saw what Jesus said and did where completely taken aback, and Jesus used the opportunity for not just an amazing miracle, but to demonstrate the love and hope of God.  The video (below left) includes a game show style challenge (would you make the same decisions?!) and we’ve also got the updated report from Sonrise News and an activity sheet to help you reflect further on the theme.  If you want to hear more about the story Jesus told, why not watch the video (below right) which was created by Max7.org

Theme: Leader

In this video, we reflect on a parable the events in The Bible where Jesus was walking through a town, everyone wanted to see Him – He was like a celebrity!  Zacchaeus was a man everyone hated, but yet he too wanted to see Jesus.  When Jesus spent time with Zacchaeus, many people complained, saying that Zacchaeus wasn’t  worthy; but Jesus continues to show them a different way of living life.  The video (below left) includes a challenging Football Quiz (how well do you know your football teams?!) and we’ve also got the latest report from Sonrise News and an activity sheet to help you reflect further on the theme.  If you want to hear more about the story Jesus told, why not watch the video (below right) by Crossroads Kids’ Club.

Theme: Helper

In this video, we reflect on the events in The Bible where Jesus is sleeping!  That’s right, he wasn’t with large crowds all the times, and sometimes He slept.  However, even though Jesus was sleeping peacefully, His friends weren’t so calm – they thought they were going to die.  They needed a superhero to fly in and save the day, so they turned to Jesus; they woke Him up and asked for His help.  Through the amazing events that follow, Jesus shows He is their Helper and it leads to His friends asking ‘Who is this?’  The video (below left) includes a Marvel Superhero Quiz (how well do you know Marvel?!) and we’ve also got the final report from Sonrise News and an activity sheet to help you reflect further on the theme.  If you want to hear more about the story Jesus told, why not watch the video (below right) by Saddleback Kids.
